about

#obordiscofunk editor Iorga strikes again! The second instalment blends samples from some huge 70s and 80s Romanian funk and disco hits, each with its own seductive power. And all of them are for the dancefloor! The recipe and the chef are the same, but the taste has evolved with a more refined touch.

"Do It Good" was originally released 1977 by Super Group Electrecord with Gil Dobrica as lead, reinterpreting the contemporary track by KC and The Sunshine Band. It also samples Manu Dibango's famous Soul Makossa. Rather unknown than forgotten, this gem is full of punchy horns and Afro-Latin percussion moments that are amplified by Iorga's own additions.

Originally released 1983 as "O Stradă Prea Îngustă", the second track also stars Gil Dobrica and features lyrics by Romania's most emblematic poetry idol, Mihai Eminescu. But with hopping saxophone lines and 80s funky breaks, along with girlish backing vocals, Iorga diverts the music to the groove rather than its lyrical story.

"E Toamna Iar" is a rather obscure multi cultural vocal synth pop track, originally released in 1980 by Eva Kiss in both Romanian and Hungarian. We have here an amazing song, with an outstanding voice performance and equally impressive orchestration. Clarinet, violin, electric guitar, trumpets, bass guitar, drum beats, all make their way in this complex musical tale. The different versions are featured on two releases by Electrecord, a 12" compilation LP and a 7" single B Side, respectively.

"Soare Si Foc" is the original creation of Mircea Dragan and the band he established as Romanticii in the 70s. Although officially released by Electrecord on the album with the same name in 1985, the actual track had been produced almost a decade before. Most certainly this track bares the title of the most disco work from Iorga's Edits EP. Carrying groovy guitars, vibrant trumpets and lovely voices, this song is an old masterpiece that should be periodically updated and showcases to the crowd. A definite disco hit!
